Although the Imam gave importance to the inner character of individuals, however, he would remark about the external natures as well. I remember that during the tenure of the then Prime Minister Martyr Rajaie’s term in office, in spite of the unique spirituality, mysticism and purity of spirit that he (the prime minister Rajaei) possessed, but in order to pre-empt probable dangers (deviations), the Imam stated: “If God forbid, our Prime Minister should possess the aristocratic spirit, in that case we must say goodbye to Islam.” He did not state: “we must say goodbye to the Revolution” rather, he stated “we must say goodbye to Islam.”

Name of the narrator: Wife of Martyr Rajaie, Jahan-e-Eslam daily dated June 13, 1994
