Mr. Seyyed Hamid Rouhani recounts:“On the terrifying dawn of the last night Imam spent in Najaf, I went to see him to receive some guidance from him. I was overcome with emotion because I saw that he was leaving Najaf; after God and the holy shrine of Imam Ali (‘a), it had been our only refuge.I said, ‘Sir, is it not possible for you to reconsider this journey?! You are now leaving for Kuwait, and that is not a safe place; Syria is not safe either; Iran is in such a situation... Where do you intend to go?’Imam replied, ‘I have no choice but to leave here.’Then he said, ‘Here, I had become deeply attached to and familiar with the holy shrine of Imam Ali.’”
