Imam Khomeini would receive gifts such as cloth, turbans, robes, cloaks, shirts, prayer rugs, prayer stones (mohr), traditional slippers, socks, and skullcaps that were presented to him. At times, he would take one of these items according to his needs at that particular time.
However, if there were several of the same item, he would say:
“What am I going to do with all of these? Give them to people who are in need.”
There were also occasions when it was assumed that he had accepted an item for himself, but later it became clear that this was not the case; he had actually intended to give it to the particular person he had in mind.
