The Imam gathered his inner circle on the night before the day he was to leave for the city of Qom. Martyr Beheshti, Mr. Rafsanjani, I and others were present. The Imam remarked in an angry tone stating: “I am leaving; you must transform this wealth of the Shah and of the regime’s collaborators into housing for the deprived and weaker classes.” This directive formed the order for establishing the Bonyad-e-Mostazafan (Foundation for the deprived) that was issued on his behalf on that night.
