The full text of Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini’s message is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Most High

“When a scholar dies, a void is created in Islam that nothing can fill.”

The passing of the esteemed teacher and eminent jurist, Grand Ayatollah Hajj Seyyed Musa Shobeiri Zanjani (may God have mercy on him), is a tremendous loss and a great tragedy for the seminaries.

Those who had the opportunity to learn in his presence witnessed that he was exceptionally distinguished and unparalleled in his precision of thought, breadth of knowledge and jurisprudential insight.

His relationship with Imam Khomeini dates back to the special friendship between his father, the late Ayatollah Hajj Seyyed Ahmad Zanjani, may his soul rest in peace, and Imam Khomeini, which began during their years as religious students. This deep relationship continued for years after the Islamic Revolution.

Without a doubt, Ayatollah Seyyed Musa Shobeiri Zanjani was one of the greatest fruits of the Qom Seminary and one of the eminent and influential teachers of this center of scholarship and jurisprudence.

For me, having had the privilege of learning in his presence for many years, this loss is a profound personal tragedy, as it is for his other students.

May Almighty God gather this esteemed jurist among His righteous servants.

I extend my condolences over this loss to the Imam of the Age (may God hasten his reappearance), the seminaries, his followers, and his noble and respected family, particularly his esteemed sons and his dear brother. I pray that God grants him the highest ranks in the hereafter.
