Foreign ministers of Iran, Oman discuss ties, regional issues in Muscat

The top Iranian and Omani diplomats have discussed mutual relations and the latest developments in the West Asia region.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who arrived in Muscat on Sunday leading a diplomatic delegation, met with his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi.


They exchanged views about ways to promote Tehran-Muscat relations in all fields of common interest, particularly in the economic and commercial sectors.


Regional developments, especially the Israeli regime’s ongoing genocide in Gaza and the continuation of its warmongering and crimes against Lebanon and other countries in the region, were also discussed by the two foreign ministers. 


Araghchi praised Oman’s efforts and initiatives during indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States about Tehran’s peaceful nuclear energy program and clarified the latest developments in this regard.


Araghchi is also planned to participate in the Muscat Forum and outline Iran’s positions and views on regional issues.


During his stay, the Iranian foreign minister will hold consultations with senior Omani officials.



Iran FM to embark on official visits to Oman, the Netherlands next week


Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Friday that Araghchi will set off for the Netherlands on Tuesday to attend the annual conference of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague.
