Iran meeting proposes launching joint Shia-Sunni educational centers

Imam Khomeini the founder of the Islamic Republic announced the Unity Week in order to bridge differences among Muslim community and strengthen solidarity. The meeting convened dozens of Shia and Sunni scholars and elites on the second day of the 39th Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran.

A group of Iranian clerics and thinkers have held meeting in Tehran proposing establishment of joint Shia and Sunni educational centers as part of cultural efforts to boost Islamic unity in the country.  



The scholars agreed that creating joint educational centers by Shia and Sunni communities could strengthen the spirit of unity and remain among useful measures for practical unity.
 
Strengthening common discourses; confrontation between scholars of different Islamic sects and resolving misunderstandings are among the measures to create unity.
 
They also proposed that a gold coin and a silver coin be minted on the occasion of the Prophet of Mercy (PBUH).
 
In the continuation of the meeting, scholars and thinkers from across Iran raised issues related to their provinces and presented their suggestions in line with strengthening unity and solidarity among Muslims.
 
The scholars agreed that the Prophet's (PBUH) life can be the undeniable basis and common axis for the unity of all Muslims; unity means a common direction in a great civilizational project, namely the new Islamic civilization.  
 
Iranian scholars called Israeli regime as the common enemy of Israel, supported by the United States; emphasizing that Muslims must come up with a solution on how to deal with this.
The participants stressed unity as the duty and obligation of the Islamic nation and the leaders of Islamic countries.
