Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei says the fourth round of indirect talks with the United States was “difficult but useful.”

Baghaei made the remarks in a post on his X account at the end of the fourth round of Tehran-Washington negotiations in the Omani capital of Muscat on Sunday.

"Difficult but useful talks to better understand each other's positions and to find reasonable and realistic ways to address the differences,” he said.

He added that the time and place of the next round of the negotiations would be announced by Oman as the coordinator of the talks.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US President Donald Trump's regional envoy Steve Witkoff led the negotiating teams. The talks were mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi.

The talks follow previous rounds that began on April 12, marking the highest-level contact between Iran and the US since Washington withdrew from a landmark nuclear agreement in 2018 and re-imposed tough economic sanctions on Tehran.
